Great news for pizza lovers! This recent study showed that eating this cheesy treat could potentially help you lose weight. Guess what I’m having to eat tonight?! I’ve got my menu and placed my order 45 mins from now I should be tucking in my chicken surprise pizza!
Don’t get me wrong, pizza hasn’t suddenly become a super food. According to a recent study people who treated themselves with unhealthy food occasionally when dieting were successful at sticking to diet in the long term.
Men’s Health reported on the study. The study showed that week 2 of a diet, the dieters who had chosen to eat what they wanted on a Sunday were had a greater motivation to keep to the diet plan for the rest of the week.
This study proves many people theory right, indulgence once in a while doesn’t do anybody any harm. With this method it’s like having a weekly reward. At the end of the week, after sticking religiously to your diet you get whatever treat you want. So you get a great morale boost and still lose weight.
Having a "treat day" where you can indulge on your favorite food favorite (not necessarily healthy food) is of the upmost importance.
The author of the study Rita Coelho do Vale, Ph.D said to Men’s Health:
“The key is to plan ahead and designate a specific day for your rule-breaking,”
“That’s because giving in to a spur-of-the-moment donut can make you feel like you blew your diet—and might as well abandon it completely.”
I goes without saying that a healthy lifestyle requires discipline and determination. At least with this method there’s motivation and a goal to do well and earn your treat.
Still not sure pizza can help you shed those pounds? Here’s a video that might change your mind. A New York chef only ate pizza. Guess what? He lost over 100 pounds with that diet.
